Manifesto
What we believe about cannabis money
Cannabis is legal in most of the country and still runs on cash, because the payments system decided it wasn't worth the paperwork. Here's the standard we hold ourselves to instead.
- 01
Money is infrastructure, not a favor.
A licensed, tax-paying business shouldn't have to beg for the ability to take a payment. When the banking system refuses to build the road, we build the road.
- 02
Cash-only is a safety problem.
Forcing an industry to hold cash puts staff behind counters with safes and targets on their backs. Digital settlement is a security measure before it's a convenience.
- 03
A dollar should stay a dollar.
Speculation is not our product. If the money in your till can swing 20% overnight, it isn't money — it's a position.
- 04
Redeemability is the only proof that counts.
Anyone can claim backing. We publish the door you walk out of: send CAN back, receive dollars, any time.
- 05
Fees should be legible.
Zero to mint, a stated fee to redeem, pennies to transfer. No tiered interchange, no reserve holds, no fine print that shows up on a statement.
- 06
Finality beats reversibility.
Chargeback fraud is a tax on honest merchants. Payments here settle and stay settled — refunds are a decision you make, not one made for you.
- 07
Privacy is the default, not a feature.
We move value. We don't need your purchase history, and we don't build a business out of selling it.
- 08
Merchants come first.
Consumer apps are easy to launch and easy to abandon. If the shops can't take it, price it and reconcile it, nothing else matters.
- 09
Open rails, not a walled garden.
CAN lives on the TEXITcoin Omni layer, in public. Anyone can build a wallet, a POS or a tool on it without asking us first.
- 10
The industry deserves better than a meme.
Cannabis crypto earned a reputation for hype and vaporware. We'd rather be the boring option that still works in five years.
Part of the honest.money ecosystem: money that can be audited, redeemed and spent.
